New bunk Tops first fit Next job is side wall insulation then lining carpet on wall and bunk sides First trial fit of step box and hatch coming,  Project Hurley will now have to wait for several weeks as our other project boat in Scotland requies sailing! www.westerlymerlin.blogspot.com

After much careful use of angle grinder ..managed to cut the rudder tube and stock rudder tube seems to be standard one inch bore steel gas pipe threads at each end       now just need one inch steel bar and flanges welding on before rudder re build

       Made a start on the wood work ...re framing the bunks with 2*1 inch ...double the size of original   masde

Locker tops/bunk boards cut from 9 mm ply and double varnished Boards laid out to get an idea of the wood required for frame work

    After a struggle with the Angle grinder and wedges, finally managed to split the rudder...all inside in good order just a shame that the shaft had rusted away  in the rudder tube ...now to get the tube out of the boat!

  What a change a white coat of paint makes! Painting the cabin sides makes it brighter to work on the next job...the woodwork

 The Hurley 20 lying in her mud berth untouched since at least 1994 We must be mad but for a Donation to the RNLI via our yacht club Wardleys Marine on the river Wyre Lancashire we decided to take her on as a small yacht to keep on our new club Jetty and river sailing.

  The inside needed a lot of clearing out..most of the woodwork is rotted thru being full of rainwater

         the steel suports to the lead balast is badley rusted and may require replacing  View under the cockpit floor to the Skeg fixings and the bottom of Seized rudder tube

       The Rudder shaft is seized in its tube and will require replacing once old cut out of boat and the rudder split.   t
